Evaluating 40 Days of Community

The following are my thoughts on this book and video series by Rick Warren. My intent in writing these articles is not to be divisive, but to live out 1 Thess 5:21-22: "But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil." My challenge to you is to judge for yourself according to scripture whether or not what I am saying is true. "Does the Truth Matter Anymore?" by John MacArthur

John MacArthur has done a teaching video series on the lack of truth being taught in churches today. If you know me, ask me for it and I will lend you a copy. The DVD series is entitled "Does the Truth Matter Anymore?" It is produced by Word Pictures and you can find it listed here or browse their website at http://crosstv.com/. Here is the series abstract:

"Everywhere is apathy. Nobody cares whether that which is preached is true or false. A sermon is a sermon whatever the subject; only, the shorter it is the better."

Those words were written by Charles Spurgeon MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO! Yet, he might have just as easily been describing the state of the church at the beginning of the 21st Century.

Well, in this "tell-it-like-it-is" indictment of the attitudes, methods and approaches of much of the modern church, Pastor John MacArthur picks up where Charles Spurgeon left off.

This video series is 'MUST VIEWING" for the modern Christian.

Absolutely, positively, right on target. When I first saw this series on television I felt the presence of God so heavy, that it shook me to the core. "Every" church in America ought to show this DVD at least 'twice' to see where they're really headed via God's Word. Pastor MacArthur couldn't have said it any better, at least in my opinion he couldn't have. I honestly feel as if the Lord has put his blessing on this 'sermon', and will order copies asap. Thank the Lord for the "truth" being told within any 'hidden motives' showing up in the process.
Jesus is coming "sooner" than anyone realizes, and you really have to ask yourself "Does the truth really matter any more?" God help and have mercy on all of us.
